Information used for filtering

Quietblock uses website addresses, request and frame information, and sitekey response headers to decide which filters and exceptions apply. It examines page elements and, where a supported filter requires it, page text, script properties and network responses to hide advertising or repair a site check. Website content may contain personal or sensitive information; this access serves filtering on your device.

Quietblock does not operate a service that receives your browsing history, page content, filter matches or usage reports. It does not create an account or a persistent installation identifier for analytics.

Local storage and retention

Your selected lists, paused sites, custom rules, subscription addresses and cache preferences are saved in the extension's local browser storage. Filter text, updates, matching indexes and recovery information are also stored locally. These remain until changed, replaced by updates or removed with the extension. They are not synced through a Quietblock account or Chrome storage sync.

Temporary tab and frame state supports correct filtering as pages navigate. Early site repairs can cache identifiers of packaged repairs in a tab's site session storage so protection can start before page scripts. This cache is separate from extension storage. It may remain until that site's session storage is cleared or the tab session ends; browser session restoration can preserve it. It contains filter identifiers, not executable script text or a log of your browsing history.

Filter publishers and network requests

Quietblock downloads updates for enabled filter lists from their publishers. The bundled catalog uses EasyList, EasyPrivacy, eyeo's anti-circumvention list and optional Fanboy annoyance filtering, served through easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org. Adding a custom HTTPS subscription contacts the server you select.

Site-repair implementations, arguments and sequences are bundled with Quietblock. New repairs arrive through extension releases. Downloaded lists cannot supply new executable repair instructions.

List servers receive normal connection and HTTP information, such as your network address, the requested list and functional version parameters. Filter downloads omit credentials and referrers. Quietblock does not attach your browsing history, page content or an analytics identifier to those downloads. The server operator controls its own logs and retention; Quietblock cannot delete those server logs.

Filtering and site repairs may block, redirect or change a website's own requests and responses. Ordinary website traffic remains subject to that website's privacy practices. Chrome Web Store installation and update services are operated by Google under Google's policies.

Your choices and deletion

Limited Use and disclosure

Quietblock's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information accessed for filtering is used to provide that user-facing function. It is not sold, used for advertising or unrelated analytics, or used to determine creditworthiness or lending eligibility.

There is no Quietblock content-collection backend or routine human review of your pages. If you contact support, you choose what to send. Avoid sending browsing history, private rules or backups unless they are necessary for your request. Support uses the published Gmail address. Google processes and stores those messages under its privacy practices. Messages are used to respond to your request and remain in that mailbox until deleted. You can request deletion of your support correspondence by emailing the same address.

Website hosting

The privacy, support and source website is hosted through GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors' network addresses for security, including visits without signing in. Quietblock adds no website analytics, cookies or third-party scripts.

Policy changes

This policy will be updated when Quietblock's data practices change. The current policy is included with the extension and will be provided at the privacy-policy address on its store listing. Material changes must be disclosed before any new use of your information.
